How animated game 'The Act' went from arcade flop to iOS success:
Last month, Polygon added "interactive comedy" The Act to its iOS Gaming Watch List, describing the game as "Leisure Suit Larry meets Dragon's Lair." Now, Wired has the inside story of how this odd game came to iOS. With development starting in 2003, The Act was originally designed as an arcade game, using a physical wheel to control the action. But despite its charming hand-drawn visuals, produced by a team of ex-Disney animators, the ailing arcade market proved too difficult to crack, and the game's hardware was eventually liquidated on eBay. It was only in 2009 that React Entertainment began porting The Act to iPhone and iPad, converting more than 230,000 individual frames into a half-hour adventure that's currently selling for $0.99...
